How to Make Homemade Cleaning Solutions?

You know the importance of a clean home and we’re here to help you keep it spotless. Did you know that cleaning solutions can easily be made at home for effective results? Most main ingredients are items you probably already have on hand and they’re a great sustainable and non-toxic option.  Here are some of our favorite solutions for all around your home:

 

DIY Carpet Cleaning Solutions
  • Detergent Carpet Cleaner Solution
    • For synthetic carpets: Mix 1/4 teaspoon of a translucent liquid dishwashing detergent, into one cup of lukewarm water.
    • For natural fiber carpets: Mix one teaspoon of translucent liquid dishwashing detergent, into 1 cup of lukewarm water.
  • Vinegar Carpet Cleaner Solution
    • For synthetic carpets: Mix one cup of white vinegar with two cups of water.
    • For natural fiber carpets: Mix 1/4 cup of white vinegar with 1/4 cup of water.

 

DIY Window Cleaning Solutions
  • Basic Homemade Window Cleaner Solution Recipe
    • Combine 2 cups distilled water, 1/2 cup vinegar, and 10 drops of essential oil in a spray bottle, then gently shake together. After spraying make sure to wipe down with Viva® Multi-Surface™ paper towels.
  • Rubbing Alcohol DIY Window Cleaner Solution
    • Add a 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol and 2-3tbsp. of white vinegar to a spray bottle, then fill with 1 cup of distilled water. Secure the lid tightly and shake thoroughly.

 

DIY Shower Cleaner Spray
  • Combine 1 cup of water, 1 cup of distilled vinegar, and 10 drops of essential oil into a spray bottle, then shake. And just like that you’re ready to clean! Just spray the walls and wipe down with Viva® Multi-Surface™ paper towels.

    DIY Oven Cleaning Spray
    • Make a paste by stirring together 3/4 cup baking soda and 1/4 cup warm water, noting that a large oven may require more paste. After removing racks, spread the paste throughout the oven's interior, avoiding bare metal surfaces and the oven door. Clean it out in the morning and wipe down with Viva® Signature Cloth™ paper towels.

     

    DIY All-Purpose Cleaner

    • Add 3/4 cup hydrogen peroxide, 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar, 1 teaspoon unscented liquid Castile soap, 10 drops tea tree oil, 20 drops lavender essential oil and 2 cups water to a 24-ounce spray bottle. Make sure to shake thoroughly before use, it’s safe for general use all over your home.
